Veterinarian: Shelter Medicine
Commitment to Shelter Animals
Shelter animals need to be assured that every effort is made to meet the Five Freedoms. Particular attention is necessary for freedoms 4 and 5. The freedom from fear and distress and the freedom to exhibit normal behavior.
Commitment to Shelter Staff
Shelter staff spend their entire work day caring for animals. Believe it or not it is incredibly stressful to be an animal caregiver. Developing skill sets is critical. Shelter animals need care from staff that is trained and feels confident and competent in their skills
